Collection of general data and information

The website of the ReDI School collects a series of general data and information with each call. This general data and information are stored in the log files of the server. Collected can be:

When using these general data and information, the ReDI School does not draw any conclusions about you. Rather, this information is required in order to:

1. display the contents of our website correctly 
2. optimize the contents of our website as well as the advertising for the same 
3. ensure the long-term operability of our information technology systems and the technology of our website 
4. provide law enforcement authorities with the information necessary for prosecution in the event of a cyber-attack

Therefore, the ReDI School analyzes these data and information on one hand, statistically, and on the other hand, with the aim of increasing the data security of our organization, and ultimately ensuring an optimal level of protection for the personal data we process. The anonymous data of the server log files are stored separately from any personal data provided by a data subject.

Registration on our website

You can register on our website for the following offers:

- Participation in one of our courses or programs 
- Voluntary work 
- Contact for support by companies and partners 
- Support through donations in kind

Your registration requires the provision of personal data. Which personal data is transferred to us is specified in the respective form used for registration. The personal data you enter will be collected and stored exclusively for the purposes stated in the form. We only forward personal data if this is necessary for the execution of our service, for example, the forwarding of name lists for the use of external premises. We will inform you about this. The transfer of your personal data to other organizations or companies will only take place with your prior consent, or if it is necessary for the provision of services requested by you.

For easier data retrieval we use Typeform. Typeform is a service provided by TYPEFORM S. L., located at Carrer Bac de Roda, 163, 08018 Barcelona.

We only store and process the information you enter in the form provided and only for the purpose specified. Where possible, we anonymize data to ensure the protection of our course participants, volunteers and partners.

All personal data collected that does not lead to successful participation in one of our programs is generally anonymized 6 months after the end of the application phase (see Routine deletion and blocking of personal data).

ReDI Connect

On ReDI Connect (connect.redi-school.org), you can find a mentor if you are taking or have completed courses with us. If you want to volunteer and have experience in the IT industry, you can apply to be a mentor.

Mentors you apply for will be able to see your profile. Likewise, mentees looking for a mentor can see your profile if you are signed up as a mentor.

In order for you to use this platform, we need to store your personal data. You can see what data we store in the registration form.

ReDI Connect is developed in collaboration with Binary Lights. Binary Lights is a Norwegian development agency and can be reached by post here: Binary Lights, c/o MESH, Tordenskioldsgate 3, 0160 Oslo, Norway. Binary Lights, as a contractor to ReDI School, is also required to comply with the GDPR.

Newsletters

When students graduate from our program we ask them if they want to receive news about upcoming events and offerings.

We also inform partners (companies that cooperate with us) at regular intervals by email newsletter about current developments and support opportunities.

The personal data requested for sending the newsletter is shown in the input mask. All information except for the email address is optional.

A confirmation email will be sent to the email address entered for the newsletter dispatch using the double-opt-in procedure. This confirmation email serves to verify whether the owner of the email address has authorized the receipt of the newsletter.

The personal data collected in the context of a registration for the newsletter will be used exclusively for sending our newsletter. No personal data collected as part of the newsletter service is passed on to third parties. Recipients of newsletters can unsubscribe at any time.

For efficient newsletter dispatch, we use Mailchimp. Mailchimp is a service provided by The Rocket Science Group LLC, based in Georgia, USA.

Mailchimp collects the following information in connection with the newsletter:

- Device information (IP address, operating system and other system information) of the device that opens the newsletter.

- Information about the application you use to open the Mailchimp newsletter (browser ID and other Internet connection information)

- Usage data about your interactions with the newsletter (which links you click on and at what date/time)

- Deliverability of the newsletter

This information allows Mailchimp to improve and prevent abuse.

The newsletters of the ReDI School contain so-called tracking pixels. A tracking pixel is a miniature graphic that is embedded in such emails that are sent in HTML format to enable log file recording and log file analysis. This enables statistical evaluation of the success or failure of online marketing campaigns. Based on the embedded tracking pixel, we can see if and when an email was opened (see Open Tracking) and which links located in the email were called (see Click Tracking).

Routine deletion and blocking of personal data

We store your personal data only as long as it is necessary to fulfill our services, legitimate interests and legal requirements.

In principle, we store personal data for the period specified below, unless further legal obligations prevent deletion:

Course participants: 24 months after completion of course
Volunteers:
- 24 months after the last activity
- Applications that don’t lead to any volunteering activity are anonymized after 12 months
Unsuccessful applications for program participation:
- 6 months after completion of the application phase
- 24 months after completion of the application phase if you have agreed that we can contact you for future offers
Applications to job advertisements: 6 months after the decision
Laptop borrowing: 1 year after returning the laptop to make a claim in case of damage
Event-related data (e.g. registrations): 6 months after the event
Partner-related information: As long as we have a legitimate interest to work with that person and the person has not asked us to delete their data

Longer retention is possible with your consent, for example, to inform you about future ReDI School offerings.

Social media

We use social media for the following purposes:

Marketing our educational offerings and services (marketing).
Acquisition of course participants and volunteers
Call for financial or material support through donations
Announcement of job offers

The social media platforms described in more detail below collect data about your behavior and interests when you visit our websites, and in some cases provide us with an anonymized analysis of visitor groups and interactions. This processing of your data is based on our legitimate interest in better understanding our target groups pursuant to Art. 6 (1) p. 1 lit. f) GDPR.

In addition, the data may be processed by the social media platforms for their own purposes for market research and advertising. Cookies may be stored on your computer to evaluate your usage behavior. Other data about your devices, Internet connection or location may also be collected and linked to your account if necessary.

A user profile may be created about you, even if you are not registered on the social media platforms or do not have an account. These profiles may be used to serve ads customized to you on various platforms.

How the social media platforms use the data from the visit of the appearances for their own purposes, how long the social media platforms store this data is not clearly stated by the social media platforms and is not known to us beyond the processing mentioned above.

It may happen that your data is processed outside the European Union when you visit our social media sites. In particular, personal data may be transferred to the USA and processed there. For these cases, we have concluded standard contractual clauses with the providers, which have been drafted by the European Commission for these purposes.

To conduct classes online we use the following applications:

Zoom
Areas of application: Digital Career Program Berlin & Munich, Digital Women Program, Digital Youth Program
Zoom is a program that allows you to talk on camera over the Internet. You can use Zoom on your computer or cell phone. Sound and camera can be turned on or off by the participants. Access to the conferences is password protected. Only course participants, teachers and staff receive the access data.
Conferences can be recorded. Recordings can be stored locally or in an online repository in the password-protected Zoom account. ReDI School creates recordings for learning purposes and stores them in the respective Zoom account. Access to the recording is only available to course participants, faculty and staff and is password protected. The recordings are automatically deleted after 7 days.

Microsoft Teams
Areas of application: Digital Career Program NRW
Microsoft Teams (hereafter Teams) is a platform developed by Microsoft that combines chat, meetings, notes, and attachments. You can use Teams on your computer or cell phone. Sound and camera can be turned on or off by participants. Access to Teams requires a personal access account. Only course participants, faculty and staff are given an access account. Each access account is password protected.

Communication via Slack, WhatsApp, Signal and Telegram
For easy communication with our participants in digital beginner courses we use WhatsApp, Signal and Telegram in different cities. In addition, in the advanced courses, we use Slack for course consultation and coordination and sharing of course content.

Areas of application: Digital Career Program in Berlin and Munich, Digital Women Program in Berlin, Munich and Copenhagen.
Slack is a messaging application for smartphones and laptops. We use Slack to communicate in the respective learning groups, to organize teachers, to announce events, job advertisements, and other offers and information relevant to the respective program. Images and files can be shared with restrictions. The content and messages are only visible in the individual channels. The channels are each only accessible to teachers and learners.

Signal is a messaging application for smartphones and laptops. Signal is designed to never collect or store sensitive information. Signal messages and calls cannot be viewed by Signal or third parties, as they are always end-to-end encrypted, private and secure. To use Signal Messenger, the user must provide a default mobile number.

Telegram

Telegram is a cloud-based mobile and desktop messaging app. The application enables communication via text messages, voice and video calls. In addition, images, files and the user's location can be shared. To use Telegram Messenger, the user must provide a default mobile number.
Telegram is operated under the name "Telegram FZ-LLC" by Pavel Durov and is supported by his brother Nikolai. Telegram's development team is based in Dubai.
